Beacon Securities Ltd., a small firm with offices in Toronto, Halifax and Calgary, has beefed up oil and gas coverage with the addition of analyst Kuno Ryckborst, a small-cap specialist.

Mr. Ryckborst had been with PI Financial since June after being cut loose by Stonecap Securities a couple of months earlier, when that firm closed its Calgary office due to slow business.

Before joining Stonecap, he worked as a commercial lender at Canadian Western Bank and an investment banker at Societe Generale.

Mr. Ryckborst's appointment brings the number of research analysts at Beacon to six.

The move follows the firm's addition of Keith Gilday to its institutional sales department last week. Mr. Gilday was previously at Casimir Capital and Wellington West Capital Markets.
