Canaccord Genuity base metals analyst Orest Wowkodaw has left the firm, and is headed for Bank of Nova Scotia's securities unit.

Mr. Wowkodaw will be a senior analyst at Scotia.

At Canaccord, he covered companies such as Copper Mountain and Mercator Minerals.

He has 12 years of mining equity research experience and 3 years in accounting, Scotia said in a memo announcing his hiring, noting that he was the sixth-ranked base metals analyst in last year's influential Brendan Wood International Survey.
