DEAL OF THE DAY: Allianz and Borealis Infrastructure eye London City Airport
German insurer Allianz SE has joined Borealis Infrastructure, which manages investments for Canada's Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Systems (OMERS), to explore a bid for London City Airport, a source familiar with the process said. The news was first reported by the Telegraph, which said earlier this month that another Canadian pension fund, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, has partnered with the sovereign wealth fund of Kuwait and Hermes Investment Management to submit an offer to the airport. Vubiquity acquires Toronto's Juice Worldwide
Los Angeles-based Vubiquity is acquiring Toronto-based digital distributor Juice Worldwide. Juice, which provides media management and multiplatform distribution services for film, television and music content owners, will allow Vubiquity to access platforms such as iTunes, Netflix, Amazon and Google Play. Juice will become a wholly owned subsidiary. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Press release
Austral gold to acquire Vancouver's Argentex
Vancouver-based Argentex Mining Corporation has signed a binding offer letter from Australia's Austral Gold Ltd. Under the terms of the deal, Austral will acquire 100 per cent of the issued and outstanding equity of Argentex in a share exchange transaction. Press release
Toronto startup takes CanadianNanny under its wing
Toronto-based startup CareGuide has just acquired CanadianNanny.ca, currently the most dominant caregiver platform in Canada. CareGuide is an online portal that owns a portfolio of other websites dedicated to matching various caregivers, such as babysitters or elder-care providers, with families. Tethys Petroleum issues update on offer from Nostrum Oil & Gas
Tethys Petroleum Limited has received a revised non-binding proposal from Nostrum setting out the terms on which Nostrum is prepared to make an offer to acquire the entire issued share capital of Tethys. Separately, Tethys confirms that it has received expressions of interest from several other parties in relation to a variety of potential corporate transactions, all of which remain current.
