GMP tech banker Lorne Sugarman leaves for industry Add to ...

When the technology business was king, GMP Securities was one of the busiest banks in the sector.

But with deal flow quiet in the sector in recent years, especially in areas such as clean energy and solar, GMP tech banker Lorne Sugarman has decided to take his leave from the firm.

Mr. Sugarman, formerly a managing director at GMP, is joining private clinic operator Wellpoint Health Services Inc.

There will be plenty of familiar faces, as the GMP ties at Wellpoint are strong. The board of Wellpoint boasts Stanley Beck, currently also on GMP's board, as well as two ex-GMP bankers in Ray Sharma and Ken Teslia.

GMP Securities is the investment banking unit of GMP Capital .
