Macquarie Capital Markets Canada has made a new hire in its financial sponsors group as it expands coverage of private equity firms and pension funds.
Mark Lerohl is the team's newest member, heading over from Northland Capital Partners and before that National Bank Financial. At Macquarie he has been reunited with Ron Rimer, who heads the financial sponsors group. Both men previously worked at Canaccord.
Financial sponsors groups are spotty on Bay Street. Although pension funds are big buyers these days and Canadian private equity firms are constantly pitched to, some of the brokerages pay more attention to these players from their offices south of the border, and some banks cover them from other areas, such as their lending groups.
