Growing private-equity opportunities in the Canadian oil patch have prompted the startup of a new investment fund.

Aaron Bunting, formerly of K2 & Associates Investment Management, has teamed up with Ryan Dunfield, who was a principal with FrontFour Capital Group LLC, to assemble the Calgary-based fund, called Stream Asset Management, according to sources.

Warren Robinson, who was a managing director of institutional sales at Haywood Securities Inc., specializing in oil and gas, has also signed on with Stream.

It is not yet known which types of investments that the firm will be looking for, though the role of private capital in energy has expanded in recent years.
