Drug deal: Celgene Corp will pay $9-billion (U.S.) in cash to buy experimental cancer drugmaker Juno Therapeutics Inc, bulking up its developmental pipeline as it works to reduce reliance on its own cancer treatment Revlimid. Story

Health care deal: French health care group Sanofi has agreed to buy U.S. hemophilia specialist Bioverativ for $11.6-billion (U.S.), its biggest deal for seven years, which it said would strengthen its presence in treatments for rare diseases. Story

Activist investor: Hedge fund managers Carl Icahn and Darwin Deason demanded on Monday that Xerox Corp explore strategic alternatives and said they would join forces to elect four new members to the board, prodding the company's shares higher. Story

Foreign IPO: Toshiba Corp is considering an IPO of its prized memory chip business if an agreed $18-billion (U.S.) (12.99 billion pounds) sale to a Bain Capital-led consortium fails to gain antitrust approval by the end of March, the Financial Times reported on Monday. Story

Independents: Investors are betting Canada's smaller financial firms could see a jump in revenues after they helped fund marijuana companies ahead of the country's planned legalization of the drug this year. Story
