Toronto-Dominion Bank has hired high profile bank and insurance analyst Mario Mendonca, parting ways with two other analysts to make room.

Mr. Mendonca will start at TD Securities on Aug. 21.

Doug Young and Jason Bilodeau, analysts who had covered banks and insurers at TD, are no longer with the firm.

Mr. Mendonca resigned from his longtime post at Canaccord Genuity last week, sparking speculation about his destination.

Mr. Mendonca was ranked top insurance and bank analyst in Brendan Woods International's influential 2012 survey of investors.

TD's analysts in those sectors did not make the top three in either industry.
