The NHL suspended forward Jean-Francois Jacques of the Anaheim Ducks for the remainder of the pre-season and five regular-season games Tuesday.

Jacques received the sentence for leaving the bench on a legal line change for the purpose of starting a fight with Vancouver's Mike Duco during a pre-season game Saturday.

As a result of the suspension, Jacques will lose US$17,567.55 in salary.

He will be eligible to return to Anaheim's lineup for its game against Dallas on Oct. 21.
