Anaheim Ducks forward Evgeny Artyukhin has been suspended for three games without pay for "a slew-footing incident" against the Dallas Stars, the National Hockey League said on Thursday.

Dallas defenseman Matt Niskanen was injured by Artyukhin's play but no penalty was assessed for it during Wednesday's game won 4-2 by the Stars.

"Slew-footing" is the act of a player or goalkeeper knocking an opponent's feet from under him.

Russian Artyukhin, who was suspended for two games in January, is now considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The 26-year-old will lose $34,756 in salary and will be eligible to return on Oct. 31 against the Phoenix Coyotes.
