Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton will reportedly consult with the physician who performed surgery on him two years ago about the injury that has bothered him since the end of the regular season.

Hamilton has said he thinks the injury could be a sports hernia and he will visit Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia in about a week, ESPNDallas.com reported. Meyers repaired Hamilton's torn abdominal muscle in a 2009 surgery.

"You're always concerned when surgery is being brought up, but he had surgery in '09 and bounced back and won the MVP," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said, according to the website. "Maybe that will be the lucky surgery."

Hamilton played through pain throughout the postseason. After hitting 25 homers in 121 games in the regular season, Hamilton did not homer until he hit a two-run blast in the 10th inning of Game 6.

He said he would take a week to relax before seeing the doctor.
