BC Lions quarterback Tavis Lulay throws a pass as he is pressured by Winnipeg Blue Bombers' Rodney FritzTODD KOROL/Reuters

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers cut two players from their defence Tuesday — import back Darrell Pasco and second-year import lineman Rodney Fritz.

Fritz was signed to the practice roster in 2011 and played three games before missing a chunk of the season due to injury, but played in the East final and Grey Cup.

Last week he was relegated to third on the depth chart at defensive end behind second-year starter Jason Vega and Youri Yenga, who the bombers picked up last month as a free agent.

Pasco was also in his second season after spending most of his first on the practice roster. Most recently he was backing up Demond Washington at halfback.

"With the injuries we've had as guys come back we've got to start deleting guys," said coach Paul LaPolice.

Kenny Mainor and Brandon Collier are the two defensive players expected to return to the lineup soon if not Friday.
