Quarterback Matt Moore opted to re-sign with the Miami Dolphins on Friday rather than test the free-agent markety.
The agreement with Moore on a new two-year contract, reported by NFL.com to be worth a reported $8-million, was announced Friday by the Dolphins.
The team also confirmed the re-signing of wide receiver Brian Hartline. Though the Dolphins didn't release contract terms, Hartline is reported to have received a five-year, $31-million deal.
Hartline had a career year in 2012 with 74 receptions for 1,083 yards and one touchdown, including a 253-yard receiving game against Arizona.
"Brian is an ascending player that has steadily improved over his first four years with the organization," Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said. "Matt has been a valuable contributor to the Dolphins ever since he arrived two seasons ago. We are happy we were able to re-sign him, and we think he combines with Ryan Tannehill and Pat Devlin to give us an outstanding group of quarterbacks."
With Moore, 26, staying in Miami, one of the top potential free-agent quarterbacks is gone from a shallow pool. Moore likely would have been sought after by numerous teams when free agency opens next week, but he apparently remains content to back up Dolphins starter Ryan Tannehill.
Moore, who came to Miami from Carolina as an unrestricted free agent, started 12 games for the Dolphins in 2011 and threw for 2,497 yards and 16 touchdowns with nine interceptions. But he gave way to Tannehill last season and played in only two games after the rookie took over as the starter.
