Andrew ParrMike Groll

Andrew Parr is the only Canadian to advance to the final qualifying stage at European Tour Q-School.

The London, Ont., golfer sank a 15-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole at the El Valle Golf Resort in Murcia, Spain to grab one of the final spots in the final stage, which begins December 10th at the PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona, Spain.

Parr carded a final round 2-under 69 to climb nine places into a tie for 18th with four other golfers.

Five other golfers who began the second stage qualifiers did not make it through, including Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C., who finished with a final round 73 at the same qualifier as Parr. Taylor's four day total left him in 59th place in his first European Tour q-school experience.

At the Las Colinas Golf and Country Club in Alicante, Spain, it was heartache for Mike Mezei. The Lethbridge, Alta., golfer was 3-under through 15 holes and in position to qualify for the final stage until a triple bogey - bogey finish over his final three holes knocked him out of contention.

At the La Manga Club, South Course in Cartagena, Spain, Winnipeg's Matt Johnston shot a final round 69 - his best round of the week - to climb seven places and finish tied for 27th.

At the Costa Ballena Ocean Club in Jerez, Spain, Matt Hill of Brights Grove, Ont., carded a final round 68 to finish in a tie for 42nd.

Also missing out on the final stage was former number one ranked amateur in the world Peter Uihlein, who struggled with a final round 75 to leave him also tied for 42nd.
