The banged-up Montreal Canadiens have recalled centre Ryan White from Hamilton of the AHL.

The 22-year-old White is expected to play in the Canadiens game Thursday night against the New York Islanders.

Coach Jacques Martin did not say which player White would replace. He said a few emerged with bumps and bruises from a fight-filled 8-6 loss in Boston on Wednesday night.

Winger Tom Pyatt had a black eye and a scar from a cut that needed seven stitches to close on his right cheek after the Bruins' Gregory Campbell hit him repeatedly with an elbow pad.

Martin also glued forwards Scott Gomez, Lars Eller and Andrei Kostitsyn to the bench for most of the third period. All three were minus-4 in the game.

"We need to turn the page and look at the next game," said Martin. "Look at where we are in the season. We've got 27 games remaining and we need to upgrade our level of intensity."

White has three goals and nine assists in 33 AHL games this season. He had no points in three games with Montreal earlier this season.
