Erie Otters forward Connor McDavid has won the Ontario Hockey League's sportsmanship award for the 2013-14 season.

McDavid finished fourth in league scoring with 99 points (28 goals, 71 assists) in 56 games. He also recorded just 20 penalty minutes, the lowest amount among the league's top 12 scorers.

"It's a tremendous honour to win this award," said McDavid, a native of Newmarket, Ont. "It's really important to me to be respectful on the ice and there's a reward for that."

Former winners of the award include Hall of Fame legend Wayne Gretzky and former all-star Kirk Muller.
