De Haan not ready to play at world juniors

Defenceman Calvin de Haan skated on his own before the team's morning workout but wasn't slated to be in the lineup Thursday night when Canada faced off against the United States in its final round robin game at the world junior hockey championship.

De Haan has been out of action with an undisclosed injury since he took an open ice hit from Mauro Jorg in Canada's 6-0 win over Switzerland on Monday.

"It's about the same, we're watching where he's at," said coach Willie Desjardins.

Forward Jordan Caron, who didn't finish Canada's 8-2 win over Slovakia on Tuesday, was back on the ice and was to be in the lineup.

Neither player was available to the media after the skate.
