Don Hay to coach Canada’s under-18 men’s hockey team

Don Hay has been named Canada's head coach for the upcoming IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship in Sochi, Russia.

Hay, the coach of the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Giants, led Canada to a world junior gold medal in 1995 and a bronze in 2012.

The two-time WHL coach of the year has won two Memorial Cup titles with Kamloops (1994-95) and one with Vancouver (2007).

He has also spent time as a head coach in the NHL with Calgary and Phoenix.

Jody Hull, head coach of the Ontario Hockey League's Peterborough Petes, and Yves Sarault have been named as assistant coaches.
