FIVE GAMES TO WATCH

Red Wings at Penguins This is a great matchup of powers from the east and west, not to mention finalists for the Stanley Cup in recent years. It still isn't known if Sidney Crosby will return for the game, but get to your nearest sports bar or see the NHL Centre Ice package for it. Tuesday, 7 p.m., FS-Detroit, Root TV.

Hurricanes at Leafs The Leafs are trying to stop a slide in which they've won just once in their past five games. They are also playing four of their next five at home, where they are 1-4-2 in their past seven. Tuesday, 7 p.m., Sportsnet Ontario.

Blackhawks at Wild All right, since these guys do not seem to be going away it's time to get to know the league-leading Minnesotans, long an anonymous bunch. Chicago is their closest pursuer in the Western Conference. Wednesday, 7:30 p.m., TSN2.

Flyers at Canadiens The rumblings around Montreal general manager Pierre Gauthier and head coach Jacques Martin are growing louder as the Habs continue to stumble. If they lose to the lowly Islanders on Tuesday, could the Flyers bring doom for the duo? Thursday, 7:30 p.m., TSN.

Canucks at Leafs Leafs head coach Ron Wilson had two games to tinker with his lousy penalty-killing unit against relatively weak power plays. Now the Leafs have to test it against the league's best in Vancouver. Saturday, 7 p.m., CBC.
