The Philadelphia Flyers have locked up forward James van Riemsdyk to a long-term deal worth US$25.5-million.
The club announced the signing Tuesday and Van Riemsdyk later said on Twitter that the extension is for six years.
"Excited to sign a 6 year extension with the NHLFlyers , love playing in Philly," van Riemsdyk posted. He also thanked Flyers chairman Ed Snider and the rest of the organization for showing confidence in him.
Van Riemsdyk just completed his entry-level deal with the Flyers. He has recorded 75 points (36 goals, 39 assists) in 153 games over two seasons with Philadelphia.
The 22-year-old left-winger also has 10 goals and three assists in 32 playoff games.
The Flyers have had a busy off-season. The team traded captain Mike Richards to Los Angeles and fellow centre Jeff Carter to Columbus last June.
Philadelphia also traded for Ilya Bryzgalov's negotiating rights from Phoenix before signing the netminder to a nine-year deal worth $51-million.
