Gustavsson ready for game action; Wallin's staying

Jonas Gustavsson has been cleared to see some game action after undergoing a minor procedure to correct an electrical problem in his heart last week. Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson said after practice on Thursday that the Swedish netminder will play a period against the Red Wings in Detroit on Friday and two periods back at the Air Canada Centre against the Wings on Saturday … Wilson would not speculate on whether Gustavsson will begin the season in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies. "We'll decide what's best for his development or we'll decide that maybe he's ready [for the NHL]" Wilson said … The Toronto coach also revealed that Gustavsson's fellow countryman, Rickard Wallin, has earned a spot on the roster … The Leafs hope to get down to their 23-player roster after their final preseason game against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday.
