Montreal Canadiens forward Lars Eller was fined $2,500 by the NHL on Saturday for boarding Los Angeles Kings defenceman Drew Doughty.

The play happened during a game in Los Angeles on Dec. 3 and saw Eller assessed a minor penalty.

The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
