Andrew Hotham and Cam Fergus led the Saint Mary's University Huskies to a 5-0 win over the Manitoba Bisons Saturday afternoon to earn a berth in the Canadian university men's hockey championship final on Sunday.

Fergus had two goals and Hotham, the Atlantic University Sport top-scoring defenceman this season, had a goal and two assists against an overmatched Bisons team.

Rookie goaltender Neil Conway picked up the shutout with 19 saves.

Huskies Cody Thornton, who scored twice in the win against the McGill Redmen on Friday, opened the scoring for SMU on a power play midway through the first period. Colby Pridham also had a goal.

Manitoba went 0-for-6 on the power play.

The Bisons' best chance came late in the second period when Blair Macaulay took off on a breakaway, but it was broken up by SMU defenceman Chris Morrison.

Manitoba goaltender and CIS goaltender of the year Steve Christie stopped 26 shots, but had little help in front of the net with the majority of goals coming from in close.

SMU will play either the University of Alberta Golden Bears or the Lakehead University Thunderwolves for the Cavendish University Cup Sunday at the Fort William Gardens.
