The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled defenceman Korbinian Holzer from the AHL's Marlies on Saturday.
Holzer was recalled on an emergency basis, a few hours before the Maple Leafs were scheduled to play the Sabres in Buffalo.
It wasn't immediately clear if one of the Toronto blue-liners suffered an injury in a 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.
The 26-year-old Holzer has played 24 games over parts of two seasons for the Maple Leafs.
