The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings will be the star of the third season of HBO 24/7: Road to the NHL Winter Classic, according to reports Tuesday.

The Leafs and Red Wings are scheduled to play in the annual outdoor game, Jan. 1, 2013, at the University of Michigan.

24/7 attempts to give an uncensored look at NHL life as it follows teams on and off the ice. Season 1 featured Pittsburgh and Washington; Season 2 followed Philadelphia and the New York Rangers.
