Edmonton Oilers' Darnell Nurse and Taylor Hall (4) celebrate a goalThe Canadian Press

The Edmonton Oilers have decided to send rookie defenceman Darnell Nurse back to his OHL team in Sault Ste. Marie while recalling defenceman Martin Marincin from their AHL affiliate in Oklahoma City.

The 22-year-old Marincin appeared in 44 games for the Oilers last season, posting six assists. He has one assist in one game while playing with the Barons this season.

Nurse, the seventh player taken overall by the Oilers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, failed to register a point in two games with the Oilers, who have lost all four games to start the season.

Edmonton will be looking to avoid a franchise record fifth straight loss to start a season when they face the Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers opened the 1992-93 season with four losses and a tie.
