The Washington Capitals have signed free-agent forward Wojtek Wolski to a one-year deal worth US$600,000.

The winger split last season with the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers, recording four goals and five assists in 31 games.

The 26-year-old has collected 95 goals and 163 assists in 424 career games with Colorado, Phoenix, Florida and the Rangers.

A star forward with the Ontario Hockey League's Brampton Battalion, Wolski was drafted 21st overall by the Avalanche in 2006.

Wolski, who became an unrestricted free agent July 1, was dealt to Florida by the Rangers just before the trade deadline at the end of February.
