Canada's junior men's hockey team lost 4-1 to the University of Alberta in an exhibition game Wednesday.
The game was part of the selection camp to choose the squad that will represent Canada at the upcoming world junior championship.
A dozen players among the 36 invited to camp sat out the game, including Edmonton Oilers centre Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
Torrie Dyck led Alberta with a pair of goals. Kruise Reddick and Johnny Lazo also scored.
Defenceman Frank Corrado scored Canada's lone goal.
Malcolm Subban stopped 15 of 18 shots and Jordan Binnington seven of eight in the Canadian net.
Camp invitees Laurent Broissoit and Jake Paterson tended Alberta's net.
Brossoit made 18 saves on 19 shots before giving way to Paterson, who turned away all 12 shots he faced.
Canada has another exhibition game schedule for Thursday. The 23-player team will be announced following the game.
