Barracuda Racing driver Alex Tagliani

Canadian veteran driver Alex Tagliani will return to the Barracuda Racing team for the upcoming IndyCar season.

The native of Lachenaie, Que., has one win and 14 podium finishes in his open-wheel racing career.

Barracuda got off to a rocky start last season, but results picked up after switching to a Honda engine at the Indianapolis 500. Tagliani qualified for the "Fast Six" – where the top six drivers in qualifying compete for the pole position – in six of the 10 races after Indianapolis.

He took the pole position at a race at Texas Motor Speedway on June 9, but ended up finishing ninth.

"The 2012 season was strong for us, despite the challenges we faced, and the results don't reflect all our successes," Tagliani said in a statement. "In our second season together at Barracuda Racing, we can only climb upward as a team."

Tagliani has also raced in NASCAR's Nationwide series, where he has one pole and one top-10 finish.
