The top-seeded team of Canada's Carol Zhao and Ana Konjuh of Croatia won the junior girls' doubles title at the Australian Open on Friday.

Zhao, from Richmond Hill, Ont., and Konjuh defeated sixth-seeded duo Oleksandra Korashvili of Ukraine and Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic 5-7, 6-4, 10-7.

The 17-year-old Zhao, who holds the No. 10 position in the ITF junior rankings, becomes the ninth Canadian to win a junior Grand Slam title.

Canada has won junior titles at three consecutive Grand Slams. Eugenie Bouchard of Westmount, Que., and Vancouver's Filip Peliwo won junior singles titles at Wimbledon last summer.

Bouchard also teamed with American Taylor Townsend to win the junior doubles title at the All England Club. Peliwo followed his Wimbledon victory with a singles title at the U.S. Open.
