Maui police say former two-time UFC champion B.J. Penn was arrested after fighting with a man outside a bar.

Police say the Hilo native, whose real name is Jay D. Penn, was in a physical altercation with a 37-year-old man Saturday night outside a bar in Kihei.

The man was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Penn was taken into custody but was not charged, police said. The 36-year-old was released pending further investigation.

Penn couldn't immediately be reached for comment Monday.
