Much of Canada's attention in the equestrian events at the Olympics will settle on 2008 gold medal-winning rider Eric Lamaze, but he's far from alone in London.

On Saturday, a five-member Canadian squad will open the three-day eventing competition.

The event, which features dressage (Saturday), a cross-country race (Sunday), and a show jumping competition (Monday), is among the Games' most gruelling and most dangerous - falls are routine in the cross-country.

Medals will be awarded both to the top three teams and the top three individual riders.

The Canadian squad is made up of Michele Mueller of Port Perry, Ont., aboard Amistad, Hawley Bennett-Awad of Langley, B.C., (Gin & Juice), Peter Barry of Dunham, Que., (Kilrodan Abbott), Jessica Phoenix of Uxbridge, Ont., (Exponential), and Rebecca Howard of Salmon Arm, B.C., (Riddle Master).
