The Calgary Oval X-Treme ended the Toronto Beatrice Aeros' dominance in the National Women's Hockey League, beating the defending champions 3-0 on Saturday to win the league title. The Aeros had won every NWHL championship since the league's inception in 1999-2000. The Oval X-Treme joined the NWHL this season. Canadian national team veteran Danielle Goyette, of St.-Nazaire, Que., had hand in all three goals for the X-Treme with a goal and two assists. Dana Antal of Esterhazy, Sask., and Kelly Bechard of Sedley, Sask., also scored. Saskatoon's Brittony Chartier stopped 31 shots for the shutout.
