Former NHL player Paul Gardner has been hired to coach Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, the Russian Superleague club said yesterday. Gardner, 50, drafted by the NHL's Kansas City Scouts and Toronto Toros of the defunct World Hockey Association in 1976, followed the Scouts franchise when it relocated to Colorado as the Rockies, where he played for three seasons. He also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals and Buffalo Sabres. Gardner becomes Lokomotiv's third head coach this season.
