Canadian international Janine Beckie scored as Manchester City blanked Liverpool on 3-0 Sunday to advance to the SSE Women’s FA Cup semi-finals. After Beckie opened the scoring, Georgia Stanway added a pair for Man City. In other FA Cup quarter-finals, defending champion Chelsea won 1-0 at Durham, Reading downed visiting Manchester United 3-2 and West Ham, with Canadian international Adriana Leon in the starting lineup, won 1-0 at Aston Villa. The semi-final draw is set for Monday. City, which stands second in the FA Women’s Super League table at 11-0-5, beat Arsenal in February to hoist the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

Meanwhile, in Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona smashed the attendance record for women’s club soccer on Sunday as 60,739 supporters turned out to the Wanda Metropolitano stadium to see a 2-0 Barca win, which shook up the title race. The previous attendance record for a women’s game in Spain was Athletic Bilbao’s game with Atletico Madrid in the Copa de la Reina on Jan. 30, when 48,000 supporters crammed into the San Mames stadium in Bilbao. The former world record attendance for a women’s club match was a game between Mexican sides Monterrey and Tigres in 2018, where 51,000 fans showed up.
