Forward Marco Di Vaio has returned to Italy to attend hearings into match-fixing in Serie-A and will miss the Montreal Impact's next MLS game Saturday against Philadelphia.
Di Vaio, the Impact's first Designated Player, left Wednesday and is due back in Montreal on Sunday.
The 36-year-old is among the 45 players and 13 clubs under investigation by Italian soccer authorities into suspected match-fixing.
If found guilty on an allegation failing to report fraud by the Italian FA's disciplinary committee, he could be suspended for three-to-six months.
Di Vaio said last week he is not worried about the investigation because he did nothing wrong.
His spot in the Impact lineup is expected to be taken by rookie Andrew Wenger.
