85-year-old, lifting since 1950, on track to cinch weightlifting championship

Marcel Perron, who turns 86 next month, has been lifting weights since 1950. A competitor at this year’s World Masters Weightlifting championship in Montreal - where people 35-plus from 60 countries compete by age and weight class - the former foundry worker and fireman says the sport has helped him maintain his speed and strength. It came in handy during his days as a club bouncer in the 1960s, when he says he used his power and agility to ‘bop’ bigger aggressors.
