A few of the biggest headlines in the tech industry this week will come from the biggest of the tech titans - Apple Inc.

The company behind the iPad will host its World Wide Developers Conference in San Francisco on Monday, and industry observers are expecting at least one major product announcement.

Apple has already said it will unveil a new Internet-based service, iCloud, which allows users to stream and sync their content. Little is known about the new service, but at first it is likely to be used for streaming music and other content purchased through Apple's iTunes store. iCloud also puts Apple in competition with a number of major tech firms in an increasingly heated battle for the small but growing consumer market for online storage.

Apple is also expected to unveil the newest versions of both its Mac operating system and the operating system that powers its mobile devices. Although several analysts don't expect the company to offer a new version of the iPhone until September (and a new iPad until next year), the new version of the iOS operating system is likely to include a number of significant updates.

Perhaps most significantly for Apple fans, WWDC also marks one of the few public appearances for company CEO Steve Jobs since he took indefinite medical leave early this year. Investors and analysts will be watching closely for any hints as to how Mr. Jobs' health has changed, and how many of the conference's announcements he makes personally.
