iPods and iPhones will love the new Tango TRX dock

XtremeMac Tango TRX iPod dock

There are all kinds of docks on the market and you might well ask: what's so special about the XtremeMac Tango TRX iPod/iPhone dock ($200)?

Good question. First of all, it's a nice change from that boring boring, matchy, matchy Apple coolness. All that white and black. Who needs it? Now, orange; that's a trend we can get into, and no, there are no Dutchmen in our lineage.

The Tango TRX is touted as a "2.1 wireless high-fidelity audio system for iPod, iPhone and iPad," meaning, it covers a range of Apple products.

When is comes to 2.1 wireless, this is simply geek-speak for two separate speakers, one for each channel, and a sub-woofer for those lows. The wireless part refers to the latest version of Bluetooth which allows for high quality audio streaming

The digital audio system itself has an interesting array of speakers including two mid range drivers, a pair of dome tweeters and that all important "downfiring" subwoofer, which actually sounds like something my granddad used to do after Christmas dinner, but that's a story for another time.

You can also "jack in" other audio devices and it comes with a remote control but if you're streaming off your Apple iPod, iPhone or iPad, you can control things from there and fire up a five band graphic equalizer to further tailor the sound to the room and your tastes.
