Konnet PowerV Duo

Magnetic induction has proven to be a pretty nifty way of charging devices, as other products like the Powermat and Duracell myGrid have shown.

Toronto-based Konnet offers the same idea for Nintendo Wii remotes with the PowerV Duo.

Elegantly designed in either white or black, the PowerV Duo is essentially a charging stand that also comes with two rechargeable Wii remote batteries.

Snap the two batteries into two Wii remotes and then just place them on their respective slots. When the lights on each side turn red, the remotes are being charged. It takes between three to five hours for the batteries to fill to capacity, and the lights turn blue to indicate that.

What's particularly impressive about the wireless charging is that you don't need to remove silicone or Wii MotionPlus jackets to charge the batteries. The induction runs right through the silicone.

The attached tower has two USB ports that you can use to charge other portable devices. Konnet conveniently suggests a Nintendo DS as one to keep things more familial, while an iPod or mobile phone can be fed from the other side. Of course, any portable device that charges via USB can be plugged in, including PlayStation 3 controllers.

If charging two Wii remotes isn't enough for you, Konnet also offers the PowerV Quad, which is basically the same unit, except that the two USB ports are replaced by two extra Wii remote charging bays.

The PowerV Duo is currently available for about $35 at The Source, London Drugs, Amazon.ca, NCIX.com and TigerDirect.ca.
