Interactive entertainment company Ludia Inc. is nearly doubling the size of its Montreal studio by hiring 100 employees by the end of 2012.

The company, which was partially bought a year ago by FremantleMedia, employs about 130 employees at its facility in Old Montreal.

It is seeking additional workers for jobs such as programmers and game developers to accelerate its production capacity.

The company has been enjoying strong growth since opening in 2007.

"The expertise that Ludia developed in the past years on social networks and mobile platforms leads us to a unique position to fully benefit from the video game industry's fastest growing sectors," stated president and CEO Alex Thabet.

Ludia makes games for the Xbox, Wii and PlayStation consoles.

But it plans to increasingly focus on social networks such as Facebook and mobile platforms including Apple's iPhone and iPad tablet.

Its growth has been fuelled by hits such as "The Price Is Right," "Where's Waldo?" and "Family Feud."

Among its other licences are "The Amazing Race," "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?," "The Bachelor & The Bachelorette" and "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire."

It plans to launch more than 20 new games next year.

FremantleMedia is one of the world's largest entertainment producers with shows including "American Idol," "America's Got Talent" and "The X Factor."
