The Huffington Post has launched in Quebec – giving Canada two editions of the online news outlet.

In a blog post, co-founder Arianna Huffington says it's the first time the media company has had two different versions in the same country.

Huffington is doing a media blitz in Montreal today for the launch of Le Huffington Post Quebec.

The American new-media mogul says the French-language website will be a powerful collaborator with the HuffPost's eight-month-old Canadian venture.

The company's Quebec edition made headlines recently when several left-leaning politicians and activists who had signed on to write blogs for free reportedly quit amid controversy.

The free blogs raised concerns that the contributions would weaken local journalism and drive down worker salaries.
