Diplomatic relations between Canada and India are strained after Prime Minister Trudeau accused Indian government agents of killing a Canadian citizen and Sikh separatist leader, Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, B.C. in June, 2023. India has denied any involvement and dismissed the claims as “unsubstantiated.”
