Paying bonuses in bonds gathers some buzz

Investment banks are still coming to grips with paying bonuses in stock rather than cash, but there’s already a movement to dole out these amounts a different way: through bonds.

Following the financial crisis, major financial institutions that paid cash bonuses were all but bullied into switching to share-based compensation. Advocates of the change argued that stock payments tied individual bonuses to longer-term performance.
