One hour, forty-six minutes: Sherlock: The Abominable Bride

This special episode of Sherlock sees Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman investigating a murder in the foggy, sooty London of 1895. Let’s hope there’s no actual time machine involved. The special premiered on PBS and BBC One on New Year’s Day and will be in select theatres Monday. (cineplex.com)

Forty-two minutes: Blackstar

David Bowie’s 25th studio album comes out Friday, which happens to be Bowie’s 69th birthday. Critics have so far been kind to the album, if not blown away by it. The title track will give you a good idea what’s in store. (davidbowie.com)

Thirty minutes: Angel From Hell

Put aside the title, which is so dumb it might just be brilliant. This new comedy stars Jane Lynch as a woman who seems to be a weirdo but claims to be a guardian angel. Lynch is so funny that we’re curious enough to catch the premiere on Thursday. (cbs.com)

Five minutes: Pets Are Awesome to Grow Up With

Still feeling the effects of your New Year’s Eve hangover? Feeling glum for any reason? What you need is adorable photos of children and their pets. It’s like a comfort blanket for your soul. (madshark.pw)
