TV: Five shows worth watching tonight: January 21

DRAMA Bones (Fox, Global, 8 p.m.) Still the sturdiest show on Fox’s lineup, Bones continues to pull in new viewers in its eighth season by steadily advancing the relationship betweenthe central characters of FBI agent Booth (David Boreanaz) and forensics whiz Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel). Why, last season they even had a baby together! Tonight’s season the new parents are alarmed by the reappearance of the hacker/killer Pelant (Andrew Leeds), who announces his return by brutally murdering a Special Forces agent. The investigation takes an unexpected twist when Booth discovers the victim was also working for an infamous mercenary supplier.
REALITY Market Warriors (PBS, 9 p.m.) Clearly inspired by the success of cable shows like Storage Wars and Storage Hunters, this rookie PBS series comes from the makers of Antiques Roadshow and puts forth a challenge to four professional treasure hunters searching for precious objects to flip for profit. In tonight’s new outing, pro pickers Miller, John, Bob and Kevin roll on down to New Milford, Connecticut to attend the Elephant Trunk Country Flea Market. The challenge: Find something small and metal of great monetary value. The hidden treasures include a slant front desk and an antique butter churn. Mark L. Walberg hosts.
REALITY Hoarders (A&E, 9 p.m.) Is it possible that TV’s scariest reality show has gotten even scarier? Currently in its sixth season, this series profiling compulsive hoarders has somehow upped the ick factor in recent episodes. Each episode in the series introduces two individuals happily overwhelmed by clutter. And with rare exception, most of the case studies presented are people newly fallen upon hard times. Tonight’s first case in point: Marlene, a former supermodel whose life fell to pieces following a divorce from her rich husband and whose home is now stocked to the rafters with greasy finds from dumpster-diving. Then meet Jeff, still stinging from the failure of his shoe-repair business. It makes sense that Jeff would move all his shoe-repair equipment into his home, but was it really necessary for him to start hoarding construction supplies at the same time? In both instances, much-need counseling works miracles.
DRAMA Castle (ABC, CTV, 10 p.m.) Still holding strong in Monday-night ratings, this low-key crime drama has taken a slight shift since the pivotal figures of novelist sleuth Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and tough NYPD cop Beckett (Stana Katic, also a Canadian) officially became a couple. In tonight’s show, the odd couple investigate the murder of a man who founded an adult video franchise called “College Girls Gone Crazy.” The problem is the list of suspects includes angry fathers, husbands and former college girls. In other news, Castle tries to stop his teen daughter from launching a video blog broadcasting intimate details of her life.
MOVIE Fitzwilly (TCM, midnight ET; 9 p.m. PT) Released in 1967, this broad comedy was made to cash in on the popularity of Dick Van Dyke, at the time a familiar face to TV viewers following five seasons of The Dick Van Dyke Show. The film casts the talented comic actor as the charmingly larcenous butler Claude Fitzwilliam, a.k.a. Fitzwilly, who works for a dotty dowager (Edith Evans) in Manhattan. Turns out she’s penniless, yet still handing out huge cheques to charities. Fitzwilly’s solution involves knocking off banks and other institutions to cover the donations, until the old gal’s new secretary (Barbara Feldon) catches on.
