Flashpoint Season One (2008-09)
In this slick made-in-Toronto police drama that famously won the heart of CBS, members of the elite Strategic Response Unit make it a point to talk first - usually the job of Gregory Parker (Enrico Colantoni) - and shoot only if necessary. Hugh Dillon, who plays team leader Ed Lane, was lead singer with the Headstones, which, director David Frazee says (jokingly?) in a commentary, made it "quite a bone of contention" for him to sing a bit of Gilbert and Sullivan in one scene, "you know, being a rock star and all."
Married With Children: The Complete Eleventh Season (1996-97)
Ed O'Neill, Katey Segal and Christina Applegate have traded up with their respective roles in Modern Family, Sons of Anarchy and Samantha Who . But back then, it was all cheap shots about lazy wives, impotent husbands, promiscuous daughters and clueless sons. The final 24 episodes end without a sendoff, unless the appearance of a chimpanzee in a suit counts. The only thing that gave the show class - the theme song Love and Marriage , sung by Frank Sinatra - has been replaced for DVD with an instrumental sound-alike.
