In this episode of On the Road, I head out to shoot our back-to-school podcast special.

In 2005 I headed out to the Toronto waterfront with my Mac, a web camera, my good friend Mikey and my brother Jeff. Little did we know that we were about to start a video tradition that would last until today, six years later. We called the show, a technology podcast, commandN.tv. Despite our frigid Canadians winters here in Canada, we braved the elements to deliver weekly episodes to our devoted online community.

In this episode of On the Road, I head out to shoot our back-to-school podcast special. We've shot the show in various destinations all over Canada and the United States, but today we go to Little India in downtown Toronto. To get caught up with the latest Internet news, I sync up my iPhone with the car's audio system and stream a program from Leo Laporte's TWiT.tv network. This is easy to do, just a quick connect via Bluetooth to my device and it's ready to play. Thanks to crystal clear sound in the car, I'm ready to talk tech.

When we arrive at our destination, we look for a good spot to test out the all-new Ford Focus' Active Park Assist. As soon as I pull past an opening, the car indicates that it's ready to squeeze into the space. Although it takes some getting used to, I'm now comfortable going in reverse and watching as the car rolls backwards, turns the wheels, and fits easily in to the spot. While I test drive this feature, a few on-lookers watch in amazement at my hands-free parking.

Thankfully, it's a beautiful day today so I don't mind hanging around outside prepping for the show while cameraman Chris Dick gets our gear set up. One feature I love about the car is the heated seats. Although I didn't get to use them today, I'm daydreaming about the warmth during our freezing-cold January shoots.

With another episode in the can, episode 245 to be exact, it's time to head home and work with our team to get the show edited and online to our fans.
