More than one hundred high-performance exotic cars -- from Lamborghinis to Ferraris to McLarens - filled the parking lot at BMW’s flagship dealership in Toronto Sunday for Supercar Sunday. The car rally, hosted by BMW Toronto, Saturns Drives, and Blacklist Rally attracted hundreds of car enthusiasts – young and old – and raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Orthopedic Surgery Program at Women’s College Hospital. This is the second year the show was taken place.

One of the star cars was this Porsche 918 Spyder, a mid-engine plug-in hybrid sports car. First-time attendee Tyler, who prefers not to use his last name, paid $100 just to ride shotgun in this beauty. “It’s for a good cause and besides, when will I ever have a chance to ride in this again?” he asks.Petrina Gentile/The Globe and Mail

Another showstopper was this BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car on loan for the day to Dr. Tim Dwyer, Orthopedic Surgeon at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto. “We’ve come together to raise money for our research in Women’s College Hospital where we do sports surgery on pro-athletes and weekend warriors. The event keeps growing. More and more cars and more and more people are coming out,” he says, striking a pose in front of the i8.Petrina Gentile/The Globe and Mail

Even celebrities joined the cause. NHL alumni Mike Gartner was also on hand. “The way this event is unfolding in the second year, it can really make a difference,” says Gartner, who is a bigtime truck guy. He drives a Ford F-150 pickup, but his dream car is a vintage Ferrari Dino. “There are so many cool vehicles across all makes and models here it’s tough to pick my favorite,” he says. But this orange McLaren coupe suits him well.Petrina Gentile/The Globe and Mail

You didn’t have to be a celebrity to enjoy the fun. The Popo family came to check out the stunning rides. “My kids love cars,” says Errol Popo. While he prefers a Ferrari over a Lamborghini, his kids don’t. Popo’s 9-year-old son, Noah, and 11-year-old daughter Maya like this Lamborghini Murcielago roadster. Who could blame them? It’s hard to resist this topless beauty with a gut-wrenchingly powerful 6.2L V12 engine?Petrina Gentile/The Globe and Mail

Brandon Moore, 17, can’t descide on a favourite. It’s a toss-up between this yellow Lamborghini Huracan Spyder and a white 2017 Nissan GTR. “The Lamborghini is exotic and the GTR is exotic, but it’s also normal. It’s not a flashy car, but it has a lot of performance. Car guys know what it is and what it can do,” he says. Price is another bonus. “$100,000 for the GTR versus half-a-million for an Aventador.”Petrina Gentile/The Globe and Mail

Caleb Omar, 17, drove to Toronto from Cambridge, Ont. with his friends just to check out Supercar Sunday and get up-close to his dream wheels. But it’s a tough pick when it comes to his favorite ride amid the sea of vehicles. He narrowed it down to a matt black Lamborghini Aventador, a Ferrari 458 Italia with a red interior, and a white 2017 Nissan GTR. “Those are my three favorite cars here,” he says excitedly.Petrina Gentile/The Globe and Mail

Neil, who doesn’t want to use his last name, is the proud owner of this 2017 white Nissan GT-R that many of the young guys are raving about. What’s not to like about the all-new 2017 GTR? It is leaps and bounds ahead of the previous generation. The iconic supercar debuted at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show before it hit North American dealerships as a 2009 model.Petrina Gentile/The Globe and Mail

Angelo Paletta made the trek to Toronto from Burlington, Ont. with this limited-production Ford GT. He attended last year with his Ferrari 458 Speciale, but decided to switch it up this year so he brought this Ford GT and offered up charity rides for attendees. “This year I brought the Ford GT to bring some American muscle to all these European cars here,” he says. But what’s more popular – the Ford or the Ferrari for rides? “Everyone that has come up to me today has said, bar none the best car here is the Ford GT. To me, it’s all great cars.”Petrina Gentile/The Globe and Mail

Karim, who prefers not to use his last name, brought along this picture-perfect Aston Martin DB9 supercar. “This car is comfortable. It’s beautiful. It’s fast. It’s a good balance between comfort and speed.” Under the hood is a 6.0L V-12 that launches it from 0 to 100 clicks in slightly over 4 seconds.Petrina Gentile/The Globe and Mail
