Canadian icon William Shatner may or may not end up as our next governor-general, but he will always have a place in our hearts here at Globe Drive. And not just for having piloted the Starship Enterprise, one of the coolest forms of transportation ever devised.
The reason Shatner has endeared himself to us is the fact he's outed himself on Twitter as a car buff - one with immaculate taste in vehicles. We stumbled on a recent series of tweets by the ex-Captain Kirk in which he casually reeled off his 10 favourite cars. And what a list it is, as you'll see by the photo gallery we've prepared.
Any North American who gives a shout-out to Citroën's iconic (yet often slighted) 2CV is ok with us. And he displays even more impeccable taste by picking two gorgeous Jaguars - the D-type and XKE.
But the Captain also shows his Detroit chops by selecting the Chevrolet Corvair and - proving he's not afraid to go warp factor 10 even on dry ground - the Dodge Viper.
And let's not forget the vintage champagne of cars, the Bugatti Veyron, Shatner doesn't indicate if he actually owns one, though we don't doubt he can afford it.
